The Johnnelund Motet Choir is an expressive choir, with high ambition and warm heart. Our home is the church of Saint Mary in the district of Johnanelund in Linköping, but we perform in many other contexts about Linköping, in the region of Östergötland. We sing mainly sacred music, often a capella bat also in collaboration with local musicians.
Our base is church life and activities in the congregation, where we participate in services, concerts of our own or with other choirs in the parish, a number of times each semester.
Our desire for expression shows up in projects one might not associate with traditional choral singing. We like to express ourselves scenically and wish to raise the whole experience for our listeners. During a number of years we have cooperated with director Anci Hjulström which has for instance resulted in a staged version of Bach's Passion of St. John.
The members have a warm community and meet in addition to regular rehearsals with coffee breaks in other social contexts during the year, the whole choir, in parts, or in the different work groups that manage practical arrangements around concerts and other events.
